That strip of ground along the side of a house is one of those spots that never quite looks right with grass. It's awkward to mow, prone to bare patches, and just kind of sits there looking messy. That's exactly what we were working with here.
We pulled out the old sod, laid down fresh weed barrier, and installed clean edging to give the bed a defined border. Then we filled it in with rock. The result is a neat, finished look that requires almost no upkeep going forward.
This kind of swap - sod out, rock in - is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to a side yard or foundation bed. No more trying to squeeze a mower into a tight space. No more dead patches from foot traffic or poor drainage around the AC unit. Just a clean bed that stays clean.
Rock installation done right starts with the prep work. The weed barrier underneath is what separates a bed that holds up over time from one that turns into a weedy mess in a couple of seasons. We don't skip that step.
Small scope, real results. This Farmington homeowner now has one less thing to worry about every time they mow.
