This one started as a plain patch of ground - nothing going on, no real structure, just bare soil and dead grass with no clear purpose. A lot of yards in Bloomington have spots like this. Space that gets ignored because there's no plan for it.
We came in and built a flower garden from scratch. The foundation of the whole design is a checker pattern paver layout with clean brick edging running the perimeter. That edging is what gives the whole bed its shape and keeps everything contained once the flowers go in.
The checker pattern itself is something we don't see a lot of, and that's exactly the point. It adds visual interest even before a single plant goes in. When the flowers fill in around those pavers, the contrast between the stone and the blooms is going to look sharp.
Paver edging like this does more than just look good - it keeps your garden from creeping into the lawn over time. No more fighting back spreading beds or re-edging every season. The structure holds.
This is a great example of how paver work and garden design go hand in hand. You get a bed that's functional, low-maintenance, and has real curb appeal built right into the bones of it. Flowers are still coming, but the hard work is already done.
